The Delegation of the European Union presents the results of 49 civil society initiatives implemented under the EU Civil Resilience Mechanism

19 January 2024

On Wednesday, 17 January 2024, at the Philharmonic Hall of North Macedonia, the Head of the Delegation of the European Union, Ambassador David Geer and Metodija Dimovski, Secretary-General of the Government of Republic of North Macedonia, opened the Civil Society Fair for promoting the results of 49 successful initiatives implemented under the EU Civil Resilience Mechanism (EU CRM). This was followed by a presentation of the results from this EU support mechanism in the form of a digital exhibition and via informative materials.

The EU CRM provides in-kind support for small civil society and grassroots organisations with the aim of implementing actions to the benefit of local communities all over the country and strengthening the citizens’ resilience during frequent social changes. Under the CRM support, the EU has awarded €0.9 million supporting 49 civil society initiatives implemented in the course of 2023/2024. The support enabled awarded civil society organisations to undertake effective actions to promptly respond to pressing needs in their communities and to strengthen the citizens’ resilience. They also informed citizens on the benefits of the EU accession process and related sector reforms to the citizens’ daily lives.

These civic initiatives serve as catalysts for transformation, influencing local policies and promoting human rights, gender equity, youth empowerment, cultural and environmental awareness and protection, socio-economic growth and job creation. The initiatives contributed to a more inclusive, just, and empowered society, positively affecting the lives of local communities.

The EU CRM in-kind support is implemented under the EU funded project “Technical Assistance for Improving the enabling environment for CSOs in the Republic of North Macedonia” (https://eu4cr.mk/)
